The Allier, as wild as it is unexpected, is also a rich and green nature. You can hike on the puy du Roc, admire natural waterfalls, taste local and unique wines in Saint Pourçain sur Sioule.
For the more experienced (and sporty among you) the great crossing of the Massif Central passes through the Allier, well known to mountain bikers. If you prefer a more leisurely ride, there are many paths in the forest, along the river and in the pond, where you can pedal without forcing yourself. Charroux is a well-known village in the Auvergne Rhône Alpes region, a former important crossroads of trade in the Middle Ages. Typical features of the Allier are the timber-framed houses and the cobbled streets which remind one of a giant labyrinth! In its centre, you will find many shops of local craftsmen: candles, jams, foie gras. But the flagship product of Charroux is Saint Pourçain mustard. The festival of lights on the Bourbonnais.
The Allier is a land of festivals. Discover the festival of lights on the Bourbonnais. From May to September, from dusk to 11:30 pm, you can admire the artistic projections of lights in different towns of the region. In Bourbon, the castle offers this magical show on its exterior façade.
